Feng Zikai devoted himself to music education in his early years. For a long time, he taught in middle and primary school, normal schools and universities in different places, such as Shanghai, Guilin, Zhejiang province, Zunyi and Chongqing. He paid attention to the combination of teaching skills and cultivating people, and trained a lot of artistic personnel, who later became teachers for the music education at that time. In December 1925, Feng Zikai published his first book about music, Common Sense of Music, which shows that he gradually shifted his focus of music education to a broader social level. He committed himself to the formative education on music and its popularization through compiling more than 30 kinds of music theory books, such as Introduction to Music, Life and Music, Ten Lessons of Music, etc. He has made great contributions to the popularization and improvement of new music education. Combined with his own teaching experience, Feng Zikai explained musical knowledge such as music theory, harmony, genre, music style, musical instruments, bands, history and aesthetics in prose style with simple, vivid and fluent words, which was widely welcomed by the whole society.
