Li Shutong started his educational career in Tianjin in 1911. In the next eight years, Master Li, an exemplar who devoted himself to the cause of education, kept influencing others by his words and deeds and advocating aesthetic education. Later, Feng Zikai learned art from him. Influenced by his educational concept of “understanding art and literature after knowing instruments”, Feng Zikai continuously developed his personality. Finally, Mr. Feng became a famous master of art at home and abroad and inherited Master Li’s ideas of aesthetic education. The year of 2021 witnessed the 110th anniversary of Li Shutong’s career as a teacher. From December 30, 2021 to February 27, 2022, the Former Residence and Memorial Hall of Li Shutong and the Feng Zikai Research Institute jointly displayed the ” ‘A boat of bright moon passes through Jinmen’ – Education Inheritance Exhibition of Li Shutong and Feng Zikai” in the third exhibition hall of Tianjin Art Museum. The exhibition pays tribute to the two masters via mainly presenting achievements of these two outstanding art educators to visitors. At the same time, it hopes to enlighten the current education.
